Single Parents’ Association
Sometimes it can be hard and lonely to be the only parent in charge of the everyday responsibilities of raising children. Come and join others who have experienced the same challenges and understand your situation. You are welcome to join our family cafes, excursions, and family camps – all the peer support activities. The main language is Finnish but English translations are provided when needed.
Resources for parents, opportunities for children
Founded by single mothers, The Single Parents’ Association is a secular, apolitical organization working to improve the status of children living in single parent families and to provide equal opportunities for them. We are also members of the Finnish Federation of Mother and Child Homes and Shelters.
Our purpose is to improve child welfare by offering opportunities for children and support for parents. We organize a variety of peer activities for single-parent families and train volunteers interested in supporting families and children.
As a non-governmental organization, we strive to reinforce confidence and empowerment among people facing challenging life situations.
Our office (including Buddies for Kids, www.mieskaverit.fi) is located close to the Herttoniemi metro-station in Helsinki. We also organize activities elsewhere in the Helsinki metropolitan area.
For all the activities, check out our calendar (kalenteri).
